19th September 2025
Welcome back, EYC families! After a refreshing four-day weekend filled with celebrations for Malaysia Day and the public holidays, our centre has been buzzing with energy, laughter, and joyful learning. Over the past three days, the children have jumped right back into their routines with enthusiasm, exploring new ideas, engaging in creative play and reconnecting with friends and educators. It's been a short but meaningful week and we're excited to share some of the highlights with you!
Nursery HighlightsÂ
This week in Literacy, the Nursery children continued to explore the sounds in their environment as they had a fun drumming session with rhythm sticks, listening carefully and imitating sound patterns! In Maths, they explored the world of shapes through the artwork of Wassily Kandinsky, carefully spotting and naming the shapes they could see in his art.
Reception Highlights
In Reception this week, the children began a story adventure with the classic book 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen. The children explored the story; bringing it to life with actions, using movement to signify the different parts of the journey. This helped them to connect with the rhythm and repetition of the story in a fun and active way. To make the story even more exciting, the children went on their very own bear hunt around the EYC!Â
In Maths, the children explored comparing size. The children were encouraged to use language such as big and small, tall, long and short to describe and compare different objects. During our Teddy Bear Picnic game, they helped to unpack a picnic basket and decided which items belonged to the big bear and which to the small bear. This playful activity supported their understanding of size, ordering, and using mathematical language to explain their thinking.Â
PE & Swimming
This week, Nursery and Reception worked on their fundamental aquatic skills, such as breath control and maintaining a streamlined position — learning to be “rockets” in the water! In PE, the children met Mary the Monkey, who has been helping them continue to practise their balancing, throwing, and jumping skills.
Summer Fair
Next weekend, Saturday 27th September, will be the first whole school family event at ISP with the Community Fair being hosted on the Secondary Campus. The PTA will be selling tickets, which can be used as payment at the PTA-run stalls, activities and treat stations during the fair. Tickets can be purchased on the day from the Ticket Booth or in advance during our pre-sale. The EYC pre-sale will run Monday 22nd – Friday 26th September at drop-off (8:00 am - 8:30 am) and pick-up (2:15–2:45 pm) in front of the EYC lobby area.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you in the EYC next week!
