Basic requirements:
Minimum ABE high intermediate level of English proficiency (score 223 on GOALS test).
Preference given to the students who finished the Community Interpreter Training class.

Introduction to Educational Interpreting is a specialization of interpreting that is perfect for people who work as teacher assistants in schools, cultural liaisons or student advocates and are asked to act as interpreters for the multilingual families. It is also useful for those who already work as interpreters and wants to learn more about the American educational system, Special Education Services, laws that all people in education need to now and learn tips and tricks on how to always be professional and not know your rights and responsibilities.
The class is also appropriate for people who would like to become interpreters, but have not worked in this field before.
The average wage for educational interpreters in the Twin Cities Metro is $23 - 34 /hr.
