The Professional Growth and Evaluation process was created by a whole school committee. The committee defined four domains for effective teaching and learning.
The four domains and standards provide the basis for professional growth. The four domains for effective education at ISB are:
Domain 1. Knowledge, Planning and Assessment
Domain 2: Communication and Teaching Practices
Domain 3: Classroom atmosphere and connection to students
Domain 4: Professionalism and Collaboration
In order to emphasize the collaborative nature of our profession, peer observation is seen as a key component of faculty growth. The overall aim is that faculty will continue to learn and grow through the process.
Over a three-year cycle, teachers are assigned to one of the three possible plans in my given school year.
1. Self-assessment and Summative Evaluation plan for New Teachers (first year of service to ISB) and Returning Teachers (one year of a three-year cycle)
2. Professional Growth Plan (two years of a three-year cycle)
3. Performance Improvement Plan
