As a leading International and Independent School, how we communicate with our community and each other has to be a step above other schools. We must communicate clearly, effectively, timely and with compassion and understanding. Emails may always seem to be the best way, but very often they are not. Email is great for information sharing, good news and mass communication. Face to face meetings and phone calls are far more effective in most other situations.
Individual:
Please respond to an email within 24 hrs if possible. Feel free to send a holding email, if it helps. Avoid email ping-pong at all costs. It is much better to reply with something like ‘thank you’ for your email. I would be more than happy to talk to you about it. Let’s set up a time to meet (either in person, virtually or phone call as appropriate)’
A phone call or face to face meeting will always get a better outcome and will usually save you a lot of time and effort.
Class or Grade Level:
Please always CC your Principal so that they are aware of such communications.
Division or Whole School:
These must always be coordinated centrally to avoid over communicating, duplication, confusion or even conflicting messages.
All divisional or whole school communications must be coordinated through the MAC Team (who in most cases, will coordinate to send the communication). These must have the approval of your Principal.
Dragon Dispatch:
The Dragon Dispatch is our main form of communication with our community. Please try to use this for anything that is of interest, such as upcoming events, amazing things going on, reflections, Blogs, Vlogs etc. Communication to our community outside the Dragon Dispatch should be reserved for special occasions and emergencies.
