Climate Challenge Cymru


Myla, Millie G, Emyr, Lexi, Seren and Olly in Class 5 have been working hard on a project for Climate Challenge Cymru.

They carried out research into seagrass and came up with ideas into how they could encourage children of their age to learn about seagrass and the enormous benefits it has to our coastal ecosystems. 

They have created a game, video, presentation and images to share their findings with people of their own age and would love you to check out their work on the website they created to collate it all.

We are delighted to announce that Millie P has won a Lego Build the Change competition - the entrants had to design solutions to one of four different briefs.

Millie G was also shortlisted into the top ten entries, an amazing achievement as our pupils were competing against children across the whole of the UK to create a 

Millie P recently travelled to London to collect the fantastic Lego treehouse prize for herself and £2000 for the school to spend on improving biodiversity / sustainability in our grounds.

We are incredibly proud of both girls and their hard work. There is a new Lego competition which some of you may like to enter which you can find here or on Google Classroom under competitions.


We are thrilled to announce that our code team won second prize in the DVLA Code Challenge winning £1500 for the school to spend on coding equipment. Gwaith bendigedig merched!

Pupils from Class 4 took part in the First Music Experience programme this term.


They then joined with all other schools in our area for a concert to celebrate and share their new skills

We are delighted that we have been awarded a grant that will allow us to provide all pupils with free fruit.

Despite the November weather we had a wonderful day on Outdoor Classroom Day.

We all had the opportunity to take part in a range of lovely activities exploring our understanding of numeracy, 

On Thursday we held an event to celebrate the launch of our new logo initiative.


After surveying parents and pupils our governing body decided to change our uniform so the logo is now a sew on patch. This will be cheaper and more sustainable. 

We can provide support with sewing and every pupil will recieve a free badge - badges will then be availble for £1

A visit to the Harbour

Class One enjoyed visiting the coastguard, lifeboat station and Stena today. 

Core Purposes

We were excited to find out the names of our 4 core purposes dragons this week. Everyone had the chance to vote for their favourite name. Introducing Ethical Efa,Creative Celyn, Ambitious Aneurin, Healthy Hedd. 

Pupils enjoyed a visit from Tudor Phillips, Clog Dancer this week.

Dosbarth Un have had a busy week. they went on a walk gathering leaves and apples to create our own autumnal paintings. They also created a zip wire and tasted tested peaches after reading The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch

The Mabinogion

Pupils in Years 4,5 and 6 enjoyed a visit to St David's Bishops Palace as part of the Children’s Festival of Welsh History in a celebration of Welsh heritage, identity, and language, perfect for children and families.


 

Struts and Frets Theatre’s inventive and enchanting adaptation of the classic Welsh tale, The Mabinogion, took them on an exhilarating journey with elaborate puppetry, immersive storytelling, and original music.

 




Visiting Artist


Class Five enjoyed a visit from local artist Michaela Hollyfield who talked to them about how to hold an exhibition.

During the first week of term all pupils took part in a range of activities linked to our new topic.
We welcomed a number of visitors to school. 

Ms Williams from Pembrokeshire Music Service taught us some uplifting songs - in the afternoon we held a school concert.

Councillor Michelle Bateman came and talked to us about her roles and the roles responsibilities and responsibilities of Pembrokeshire County Council

We learnt out about different breeds of cows and the milking process at our local dairy farm with Randell from Morfa Milk
