Project Based Learning

The biggest risk I took this year is implementing a Project Based Learning (PBL) to bring real-world experiences to the classroom.  Our 3rd grade team worked with the Authentic Learning team to develop a project that would integrate both reading and math TEKS.  In math, students learned different units of measurement for weight and capacity.  They took what they learned and used this to make organic dog treats.  To close out the PBL, we had a service dog taste test the dog treats.  The remaining treats were donated to local animal shelters.
