News Crew has taken off at WCE! I had no clue what I was doing to begin with. Through lots of risk-taking, trial and error, my news crew has come together nicely. I use Flipgrid to record the news and download it onto my computer. Then, I drop the video segments into WeVideo (there is a free version, but for my role it is worth paying for it), and I edit the clips to create one news movie. After that, I drop the completed video into Canva for a finished publication. This was a huge risk for me and the students. For me, I am creating a video that all students watch as they start their day. It is nerve-wracking to know it could be criticized, not enjoyed, or ignored. There is a lot of work that goes into news announcements. Additionally, it is taking a risk for students because they volunteer to put themselves out there for others to watch, potentially criticize or ignore. It takes bravery for my news crew to put themselves out there, skip recess (on their last year to have recess) and to help publish the news.

Robotics Competition

Robotics Competition was so exciting! Everything from the spirit stick (which WCE won) to the robots completing task...the kids and the sponsors took risks. It was scary having to compete in a big gym amongst many Vex Fields, but the cardinals did amazing! This was their first year together with two new sponsors.
