Can I recycle hardcover textbooks and hardcover library books on site?
What are the procedures for recycling?
Hold up! Not all schools can recycle textbooks and hardcover books (with mylar jackets removed) on site. Depending on which of the five disposal companies provide your garbage and recycling will determine whether you can recycle on site, or whether you have to send your recycles to the Resource Warehouse. See below for the list.
Recycling Outgoing Curriculum
Use a sharpie to mark out the HSD barcode.
Use a sharpie or discard stamp to mark out the HSD stamp inside the textbook.
If paperback, recycle on-site. If hardcover, please see below.

When you have a good sized pile (no more than 15 boxes), write a work ticket to have the boxes taken to Far West Recycling for recycling. Clearly mark boxes: Far West Recycling.
Do this in chunks over time so we don’t overwhelm the movers.
