Volunteers

What can students help with? 

Students need to be trained prior to helping out in the library. Please monitor them initially to make sure they've got it.

Students Can: 

• Design displays and bulletin boards

• Write book reviews to display

• Clean (sanitize tables, sweep, dust shelves, straighten shelves)

• Work on inventory using the Inventory Login.

• Pull ILLs

• Shelf-read (double check the books are in order) 

Please remember to teach your students how to be safe if they need to use any materials. 

Students May Not:

• Use Destiny to check in/check out books 

• Shelve

What can adult volunteers help with? 

Volunteers need to be trained and background checked prior to helping out in the library. 

Volunteers Can:

• Check in books

• Assist with check out during library specials*

• Shelve Books (if trained)

• Repair Books 

• Cover Books

• Design Displays

• Book promotion: create bulletin boards, displays, etc.

• General cleaning

• Inventory using the Inventory Login

*Please be sure to specifically communicate that any and all student related information volunteers see in Destiny is confidential. It is ideal to manage all checkouts yourself or with a carefully chosen team of volunteers.
