You have probably seen this all over social media - now its your turn! You need to collect items from around the house and yard and construct a color wheel like the one to the left. Aim for a minimum of 3 objects per color. [refer to images for examples]. Get the whole family involved in finding colored objects.
When you have collected them and arranged in your color wheel, take 2 photos
directly from above in good lighting
from ground level with your face in the photo
Arrange the objects in the following relationships/schemes and take a photo. I have included two images to remind you of the relationships [or watch the video again]
warm colours
cool colours
complementary colours
arrange all the objects in a square. decide how you might "group"the colors in that square. photograph it [examples below]
Mixed Media Colour backgrounds
The background is experimental process to build layers, texture and patterns using acrylic paint and stencils. Focus is on colour and colour balance
**Continue to build up layers of stencils and colour to create depth, texture and pattern. I recommend at least one layer of pattern and texture stencils and a second layer of text/number stencils.
** Pay attention to edges - don't have all the stencils in the middle of the page - "anchor them" to the sides and run them off the edges
You will explore ink and pastel resist techniques and then turn this into a Mark Heard inspired bird. Previous techniques of mark making will be incorporated into this task;
Select your bird template and transfer it to your background and cut out. You will need to use left over pieces of background and possibly add in colour to attach to the inside of your wing when you fold it down. attach a hanger before you fold and glue together [use some string]
use paint markers, pens and Indian ink to add details like feathers etc
Eyes - these can be painted on, or use google eyes. You could also use collage or sticky dots
