You will be creating a sculpture that originates from your continuous line drawings [ones used for the shape collage!]
lets start by looking at some sculptures and do some compare and contrasting...
Compare and contrast’ is a way of critically examining two artworks. By analysing and defining similarities and differences, we can gain a greater insight into the meaning of the artworks and to the intention of the artist. Look carefully at the two sculptural pieces and answer the questions that follow.
draw this venn diagram into your books
Describe: In the circles below, describe what the two sculptures look like. Make notes on how they share similarities, and how they differ, in appearance. Consider size and weight – is it large/small, heavy/light? Use art words and descriptive language.
Elements of Art: refer to the elements of COLOUR, SHAPE & TEXTURE. How have the artists used these three elements in similar and different ways? What types of shapes have been used? How are the colours similar and/or different? Is there any texture? How has it been created?
Interpretation: Which do you prefer and why? What is the overall mood of your preferred piece? How does it make you feel? Does it remind you of anything?
Watch the video and follow this guide in making your sculpture.
If you have lost your original pieces if white shapes [or they are too small] you will need to start again. Use THIS PDF for your reference images of plants
refer to the PDF above for instructions and the video provided.
Keep your colour scheme simple - 2-3 colours. Bright pastel colours work best [add white to colours to make them more opaque].
Paint areas in block sections and keep edges neat
prepare your decoration by drawing on tisue paper, spots and tape and cut up little "sprouty" bits for final touches.
