Water Colour Painting

Process

  1. Start by doing a number of continuous modified line drawings of succulents from these provided photos. Watch the video on drawing succulents.

  2. Plan out your composition in your visual diary using your plant and Whakatauki [list below]

  3. Select one of these to transfer to a larger sheet of paper

  4. draw a Frame that is slightly smaller than the plant [so it appears the plant is extending beyond the frame]. The video to the right shows the process slightly differently.

  5. Go over your plant lines loosely with your black marker

  6. Using water colours, very lightly start to build up layers in your plants. Continue to layer colours to build up depth, Ensure you allow each layer to dry slightly before adding the next.

  7. you can then add details to your frame Using a Maori Proverb [list below] and background through pattern
