Coloured pencil is amazingly versatile and satisfying. It can be used in the same way with techniques as graphite pencil, but can also be layered, and blended with varying colours to create amazing effects. Some pencils [like the classroom ones] are called AQUARELLE pencils - this means if you add water they become watercolor paints and this add another exciting element to your drawings!
copy the techniques shown in the image here into your visual diary using colour pencil [click image for a larger version]
replicate some of the mark making experiments you did with graphite pencil, using two or more colours and trying to show value
experiment further by adding water and then doing techniques over the top of the wash
Using a combination of all the drawing techniques you have learnt so far, do a detailed bird drawing A5 in your visual diary using colour pencil as the main media.
FOCUS on: layering and building up colour, adding value and realistic eyes!
Select your bird from the folder of images below or there are printed images on the trolley.
