Gordian is a software platform that provides services for the airline industry. It provides a standardized interface where final consumers, web agencies, and airlines are abstracted from the complexity behind each party's technology, systems, and rules; for consulting ticketing availability and purchase, to ancillaries like additional baggage or seat selection.
Technology-wise, Gordian's platform runs on JavaScript, NodeJS, Postgres, Heroku, and AWS. They also use Python for data management.
The engineering department is divided into 3 teams: Content in charge of Backend services, integration with airlines, and other services APIs. Centaur in charge of Web automation and browser extensions. These tools help bookers by automating repetitive tasks. Core, the team in charge of Infrastructure and maintenance of the main Gordian system. They expose APIs for partners/customers to consume.
An interesting feature developed by the company is a unified API that allows clients to access information or purchase tickets regardless of the airline systems (More information here).
Gordian was founded in 2017 and its headquarters are located in Bellevue, Washington state. They currently have more than 70 employees distributed across the globe with 50% of them belonging to the engineering department. They started working with Austin Software in June 2021 and currently have 6 engineers working with them, 2 in the Centaur team and 4 in the Content team.

OwnLocal is a company focused on digital advertisement. Located in Austin, Texas, and part of YCombinator’s Winter 2010 generation, it partners with almost 4000 publishers globally to provide them with the technology and tools necessary to drive new revenue, strengthen sales, and improve advertiser retention in print and online platforms.
Their main business line consists in taking print ads (PDF, XML, and CSV) provided by publishers and converting them into online widgets for their newspaper website. It also features a directory for each publisher where advertisers (small and medium-size businesses) are listed so people can contact them.
The solution is powered by Google’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract information out of print ads and a user interface to manually adjust or enhance data if necessary. At the moment, OwnLocal is working on extending its product to radio ads and giving further insights to publishers by implementing data analytics dashboards.
Engineering-wise, the team relies on several technologies, including Ruby on Rails for consuming print ads, hosting publisher directories, and providing data dashboards, NodeJS to extract ad content and React for its contractors interface.
Finally, it is important to mention that OwnLocal was Austin Software's very first client and their engineering department is 100% Austin Software powered.

Humming Homes offers a centralized network of skilled trades vendors to high-end house owners and removes the complexity of managing these. Their subscription-based platform operates in areas such as The Hamptons, Fairfield, Westchester, among others, and allows not only to hire contractors for emergency events like a leaking pipe or a broken boiler, but also long term or recurring projects as landscaping and rental management.
Technology wise, the platform is both web and mobile (iOS) based. The back-end is written in Python (Django), utilizes a Postgres DB, and is deployed to Heroku. The web front-end was built using React with TypeScript, while the mobile app was coded in Swift, SwiftUI, and leverages the Composable Architecture.
Nowadays the team is focused on improving the back-office tool to communicate and manage client projects, boost the platform’s availability and reliability, and also provide new web and mobile features. Following this, we will start working on enhancing the client experience on the web app.
Humming Homes has 30+ employees and started working with Austin Software in October 2021; four of our engineers are currently working on this team and this number will keep on growing! Recently the company raised USD 5,6 million dollars in seed money.

Spot’s founders started this insurance company focused on sport injuries in 2018 with 2 goals in mind: making injury insurance affordable and the overall process less painful.
Their business model takes a holistic approach by providing customized injury insurance policies through both direct-to-consumer and strategic partnerships with companies and organizations.
In order to support both business models from the technology’s standpoint, they chose a cutting-edge stack.
For cloud infrastructure, they use AWS and within it a microservices architecture. As our Austin Software Spot team progresses, we experiment with new solutions. PostgreSQL was the database chosen to provide both security and performance.
For the backend, we code our services in Typescript with Express, TypeORM and Ts.ED. We are also exploring GraphQL and implementing gRPC for communication between services.
We use a micro frontend architecture in typescript simplified by the Single SPA library, which wraps all our webpack configuration. Every micro frontend that displays UI uses React. For styling, we use tailwinds (a utility class-based solution).
Spot currently has 70 employees and continues to expand. Even though it is headquartered in Austin, TX; their teams are distributed throughout the world. Currently, their engineering department has 15 Austin Software Engineers, making Spot our 3rd biggest partner.

Stagger is a visual storytelling platform that helps small business owners (lacking complex design software experience) create better digital marketing content for social media and web.
The product is a graphic drag & drop design platform (much like Canva) built with React that includes templates for users to create social media graphics, presentations, and other visual content. That frontend communicates with a Node.js backend that acts as a hub between several services like a couple of Postgresql databases, an exporter service, batch processes, and the Machine Learning solution. Everything is deployed on Heroku and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Besides the main technology already mentioned, it uses:
Cloudinary to manage images/videos
Mixpanel/Sentry.io/FullStory for analytics, user experience and error reporting tools
Stripe for payments
Sendgrid for mail delivery
The company's added value is the machine learning features that provide actionable insights on content that attracts the most customer engagement so business owners can make informed decisions.
Stagger is built by a small team of 4, the founder, the CTO and 2 Austin Software engineers Constanza Curzio and Dario Macchi. The company is based in Texas, United States and the Austin Software engineers are based in Montevideo, Uruguay.
