Now that we understand our Howdy FC Structure, let's break it down even more for our Howdy FC Staff. You see, we have our own value statement highlighting the very best aspects that we believe every internal team member possesses.
As a Howdy FC Staff member:
At Howdy, “we are the #1 sports team” means that we are the best in the world at what we do. All individuals associated with Howdy, whether the Players in the spotlight or the support team behind the scenes, are crucial to the overall success of our mission. Our measure of excellence is the retention and growth of our player count.
Just like any other #1 sports team, collaboration among teammates is the key ingredient to achieving victory and surpassing challenges both on and off the field. If an individual fails, the whole team owns that failure. We prioritize the overall team's success and are resilient after any setbacks or losses.
We hire for excellence and expect everyone in the entire Howdy ecosystem to embody this value. Therefore, we are excellent at everything we do. If we are not, we strive for excellence through practice and investment in ourselves.
How do you demonstrate being part of the #1 sports team?
Look for ways to collaborate with others.
Seek advice from peers and leaders who have shown excellence in your area of uncertainty.
When performing a task, prioritize completing it, knowing it helps the overall Howdy team.
Being part of the top-ranked team means showing up for opportunities that help make Howdy win; whether attending happy hours, networking events, or promoting the company and colleagues on social media, you're always seeking to score a win for Howdy. An example of a win is getting out of your comfort zone and meeting new people who could be a new prospect or player to Howdy.
Strive to be excellent at everything you do.
Invest in your own growth and development.
We expect failure, but we only accept it once. It’s imperative you learn from your mistakes.
In the face of failure or after experiencing failure, we expect you not to succumb to self-doubt or anger but rather to rise up with energy, motivation, and determination as you move forward.
Simply believe that you are on the best sports team ever and do everything to keep the winning streak alive!
Altruism is having a concern for others and being selfless. It is the selfless act of helping others without expecting anything in return.
At Howdy, “we are altruistic” means we are in a constant state of service with an emphasis on supporting our Howdy Players. Everything we do at Howdy is geared toward retaining our players and growing our team of players.
We communicate candidly and courageously in pursuit of doing the right thing for Howdy. We give honest feedback, which helps build trust among our teammates.
We extend grace to others because we know everyone is trying their best, and we know we do not have the full perspective.
How to demonstrate altruism?
When opportunities arise to prioritize the Howdy team over yourself, always prioritize the team.
Don’t automatically assume the worst intentions or motivations when disagreeing with someone. Rather, assume that there is a good reason for the differing opinions and try to find a resolution.
When asked for feedback, give it honestly to improve the situation or person, but not for your own selfish reasons.
Seek to earn the trust of others–when you commit to doing something, do it.
Simply assume the best in others and support them above yourself!
Curiosity is a willingness to learn and explore new possibilities and understandings.
At Howdy, “we are curious” means we strive to learn, adapt/change, and be versatile.
We are open to questioning and reconsidering our existing beliefs and curious enough to delve into challenging ideas with a willingness to change perspectives.
Additionally, we have humility through the learning process. This means a willingness to humble yourself to recognize the need to learn, adapt, and grow because we know we don’t know everything.
Our willingness to change perspectives based on seeking expanding information is our superpower.
Who knew that curiosity could encompass so much?
How do you demonstrate curiosity?
When asked to perform an unfamiliar task, research it, ask questions from those with expertise, and keep searching for answers until you are confident you can complete the task successfully.
When performing a routine task, consider if there is a better way to complete it and be willing to adapt. Continuously ask yourself and others if there are better ways or alternatives to accomplish the task.
When others ask you to consider a different point of view, be humble enough to assume that your way of thinking might not be the best. Open yourself to the possibility of something different or new.
If something seems off or doesn’t feel right, we’re curious about the context, perspective, and the reasons “why,” recognizing that we don’t have the full picture.
Simply ask questions and be versatile.
At Howdy, “we have spirit” means celebrating wins, promoting or lifting others up, building a sense of community and belongingness, and being light-hearted, humorous, and fun!
Spirit can represent itself in many ways. We don’t expect everyone to be a rah-rah cheerleader like our fearless Taylor. But we do expect everyone to represent the Howdy spirit in a way that is most authentic and aligned with Howdy and the individual.
Spirit is reflected by bringing the best version of yourself to Howdy every day.
How to demonstrate spirit?
Attend community events (e.g., happy hours, office lunches, celebrations, etc.) and bring a positive attitude and fun!
Get to know your Howdy teammates.
Wear the Howdy swag proudly.
Participate in Slack #challenges.
Show up to the Howdy All Hands & Internal Hands meetings.
Acknowledge others’ contributions (e.g., send positive Slack messages, promote Howdy teammates on social media, etc.).
Simply bring that super fan spirit to work every day!
