Holistic Student Development

Overview

Developing students holistically can be a challenging task. We seek to offer students choices and opportunities to extend themselves beyond the normal learning that they would have in our school curriculum. It is true that students develop their characters through the huge variety of experiences that occur in lessons on a daily basis, but the Holistic Development Committee aims to take this learning further through targeted activities.

In the coming pages, you will see students building on their past strengths and interests, seeking opportunities to engage with themselves, others and the world in meaningful ways, while they explore and exert their student agency as change-makers.

The outcomes of these activities and their impacts on our community are often difficult to ‘measure’ but these successes become individualised for the participating students.  Each experience is a chance to learn about ourselves, our values and how we fit into the world.  This is a chance to make changes that help to make wherever we are better. It is better because we were there.
