In 2025 California will be the first state in the country to require that every high-school student take an ethnic studies class to graduate. This requirement adds one semester of Ethnic Studies to the requirements for a high-school diploma, ensuring that students study the history and experiences of Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans.
The Los Angeles Unified Board of Education voted to make ethnic studies a graduation requirement by the 2023–24 school year.
About 40 of the city’s 150 public high schools already offered at least one related elective in fields such as Afro-American history, Afro-American literature, American Indian studies, Asian literature, Mexican American literature, or Mexican American studies.

Affirmative Action is the practice or policy of favoring individuals belonging to groups regarded as disadvantaged or subject to discrimination.
Created by Johnathan Boyd & MacKenzie Collins
"Unfortunately, today's workforce is dominated by white males. We live in a time where we are constantly developing our mindsets when it comes to new things, and we believe it is time to push it a little more.
Google's hiring rates for the 2020 work year were less than surprising:
48% Asian, 43% White, 6% Latinx, 5% Black, 0.8% Indigenous
32% Women, 67% Men
With California being a blue state, many were taken aback by the results. Prop 209, passed in 1996, prohibits companies from making decisions based on race and gender. Proposition 16 tried, and failed, to make a difference in 2020. We need Affirmative Action to create a fair and equal environment for everyone."
