About the Creators:
"[We] feel like the BLM movement is really important, and as the years pass we won't forget. [We] picked this topic to show the movement changed the world forever." - Josh
"I am a young black man in today's society, and it scares me to death with all the occurrences of police brutality. I don't even ride my bike down the street anymore because I don't want to be the next victim in a police brutality case, or accused of a crime I didn't commit. This is why I picked this topic. I feel it really needs more awareness brought to it, because who wants to walk down the street wondering if they're going to die today, or if they'll be questioned by the police because of suspicions? I used to look to the police for help and protection, but now it seems the police are the ones I need protection from." - Emandre
About the Project:
"[We] created a recreation of George Floyd's memorial; the recreation consists of buildings that were in the area, flowers that were left there, a bus station, all the streets, signs that were left, etc. ... George Floyd is a perfect example of how the police treat black people in our society, as he begged and repeated over and over again, 'I can't breathe.'"
By Stacy C. (Mr. Morton, Period 2)
About the Creator:
"I wanted to pick BLM as a topic because their life matters too. I hate the fact that people see color and hate them because of it."
By Oscar R. (Mrs. Hobson, Period 6)
About the Project:
"My topic was based on officer cruelty and protests about the Black Lives Matter movement, and I created what I did based on the riots in different areas of the United States - destroying buildings and causing multiple fires."
By Bianca O. & Jeannette S. (Mrs. Hobson, Period 6)
About the Project:
"[We] did three canvases that each represent how [Floyd] impacted people to speak up, not only for themselves but for everyone that has been through what George Floyd [went] through. This caused protests, riots, and the BLACK LIVES MATTER Movement; many people went to speak up about situations like Floyd's around the world."
About the Creators:
"George Floyd's death was one of the most revolutionary movements in today's society and generations. It impacted many people and it brought forth many people to come together to gather peace, equality, and justice. I strongly believe that it isn't fair to judge and discriminate against someone because of their skin color. Although I don't have the same fight, I think it is beautiful to stand up for one another and advocate how wrong this system is." - Jeannette
"What had happened to George Floyd made me feel sad and disgusted. No one should ever have to experience what George Floyd experienced that day; he was a man that was changing his life for the better... everyone should be treated equally. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE." - Bianca

"I want people to be knowledgeable on what goes on in our world... people need to be aware. I also hope to one day be a cop, and I don’t want my work environment being like this."
