Course Summary

ACTING 1

Grade Level: 9-12

Prerequisite: None

Length: Year

This course meets UC/CSU (F) and District graduation requirements for Fine Arts. Acting 1 explores the fundamentals of acting for the beginning student of technology. The course includes components of art, digital design, animation, video techniques and photographic manipulation, performance technique, and audition skills.


ACTING 2

Grade Level: 10-12

Prerequisite: Acting 1

Length: Year

This course meets UC/CSU (F) and District graduation requirements for Fine Arts. Acting 2 is for the intermediate student and builds on the foundations taught in Acting 1. Students will begin to develop in-depth characters, learn how to research for performances, refine performance techniques, and auditioning skills. Skills will be applied to the performance of scenes, monologues, and one-act plays in showcase.


ACTING 3

Grade Level: 11-12

Prerequisite: “C” or better in Acting 2

Length: Year

This course meets UC/CSU (F) and District graduation requirements for Fine Arts. Acting 3 allows students to build on the tools they gained in Acting 2 to stretch their abilities as they tackle more difficult acting techniques.


ACTING 4

Grade Level: 11-12

Prerequisite: “C” or better in Acting 3

Length: Year

This course meets UC/CSU (F) and District graduation requirements for Fine Arts. Acting 4 allows students to build on the tools they gained in Acting 3 to stretch their abilities as they tackle more difficult acting techniques.


THEATER/COSTUMES

Prerequisite: None

Length: Year

This course meets UC/CSU (F) and District graduation requirements for Fine Arts. Introduces students to the study of costumes, including underpinnings, accessories, hairdressing, and make-up, that can provide dramatic interpretations and enhancement of the characterization role related to the stage. Creative collaboration, leadership skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking are incorporated to clarify basic costume concepts and analysis as part of the creative design process.
