Pathway Summary

The carpentry pathway (part of the Building & Construction Trades Sector) will give you the hands-on experience and training you need to begin a career in carpentry. From layout and fabrication to construction of a single-family residence, this 2-year pathway will provide you with the opportunity to take your first steps to enter the building and construction sector.

Course Summaries

CTE Carpentry 1

Grade Level: 9-12

Prerequisite: None

Length: Year

This course meets UC/CSU (G) and District graduation requirements for Elective Credit. The RCOE Carpentry 1 course gives students an overview of the carpentry trade, tools, and focuses heavily on safety precautions. Course content is based on the Career Connections curriculum provided by The Carpenters International Training Fund (CITF) and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC). Subjects associated with this course and training include industry math, carpentry tools, jobsite safety, and career exploration.


CTE Carpentry 2

Grade Level: 10-12

Prerequisite: Carpentry 1

This course meets UC/CSU (G) and District graduation requirements for Elective Credit. The RCOE Carpentry 2 course provides advanced training in carpentry while also preparing high school students for direct-entry to the apprenticeship program. Course content is based on the Career Connections curriculum provided by The Carpenters International Training Fund (CITF) and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC). Subjects associated with this course and training include industry math, carpentry tools, jobsite safety, and career exploration.
