Supporting Student well-being: Tips shared by HDSB virtual teachers!

  • Start each day with 10 minutes of mindful music and relaxation.

  • Use daily affirmations with students (I am brave, I can do hard things, curiosity is my power).

  • Get to know your student's interests by asking them questions and having talk time. Both as a whole group, and in small breakout groups.

  • Have movement breaks throughout the day, dance, do yoga together, get the heart rate up!

  • Practice some mindful breathing together.

  • Laugh together, share jokes, and riddles.

  • Have some fun Jamboards ready to go (Would you rather, this or that) to fill time, and connect as a community (See HDSBtheSHIFT resources!)
