The insides of Jupiter. (Increase screen)
Hi my name is Soham S. and this page is about Jupiter, the first gas giant.
Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System. It is the 5th planet away from the sun. It is like a star but it never started burning (It is not a failed star). There are A LOT of clouds on Jupiter. Since there are a lot of clouds in Jupiter, there are many storms present. A popular storm is the Great Red Spot. It has been around for hundreds of years! Jupiter is in fact a gas giant. It doesn't have a solid surface like the past 4 planets, but it could have a solid inner core the size of Earth! A year in Jupiter is quite a lot, It is about 4,333 Earth days which is 11.9 YEARS of Earth years. Jupiter also has a lot of moons it has about 79 of them. Three of them are, Io, Europa, And Ganymede (about a bit bigger than Saturn's popular moon Titan). Jupiter had not been discovered until 1610 and the discoverer is Galileo Galilei. He discovered a lot of planets that you know today. Jupiter as some special rain, Jupiter has diamond rain - its a bit of a theory (or not) - but it can have diamond rain! Now how was Jupiter named ''Jupiter?" Well a long time ago there was a king of Roman gods the kings name was Jupiter so they named this planet after this king of gods. Jupiter's mass is quite a lot if you take all the planets in the solar system and times it by 2 & 1/2 you still don't get Jupiter's mass! Now Jupiter and the satellites: The first satellite that went to Jupiter was Pioneer 1 and at the closest it got from Jupiter was in 1973. The satellites that have mostly seen Jupiter are Pioneer, Voyager, Ulysses, Cassini, New Horizons, Galileo, and Juno.
Jupiter has rings like Saturn
If you don't believe it Jupiter does have rings its very hard to see it - but it does in fact have rings. Jupiter's rings are not as big as Saturn's. Jupiter's are a lot more skinnier than it. It was discovered in 1979 by NASA's Voyager 1.
Jupiter couldn't be a star
Jupiter is very massive
You can see Jupiter with your own eye
Clouds on Jupiter are just 50km thick
Earth has a magnetic field but if you times it by 14 you get Jupiter's
Jupiter has the shortest day of all planets
Jupiter Is so far the planet with the most rotation speed
One of Jupiter's moon is the largest in the solar system
Jupiter is the fourth brightest object in the solar system
It has some very unique cloud features.
I hope you enjoyed!
