This Diagram shows the layers of the Earth and the Moon.
Hello, I am Soham S. And here are some interesting facts about planet Earth! And some for the moon too. ⬇
Starting from here is a big part of facts for Earth.
Earth's name is a bit different than other planets we know because it was not named by a god it was named from a Germanic word that means "ground." (dirt --_--). Earth is the third planet from the sun and it has been around for a long time. Some research scientists say that Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. It was made by the accretion from a solar nebula, that means the Earth is so so old! Also the name for Earth is like 1,000 years old too! Now for Earth's orbit: Earth goes around the sun 30 kilometers per second and also a full orbit for Earth is 365 days (a year) and the moon goes through different phases around the Earth - but that is for later. Now Earth's atmosphere: its made of a lot of nitrogen that has oxygen for us to breath. It also protects us from big space rocks - the atmosphere makes it break up before it makes it to the surface. Speaking of the surface, its small and rocky. Earth's time: a day on Earth is 24 hours and a year on earth (more specific) is 365.25 days - the .25 is for the leap years. Earth moon time! The surface of the moon is made up of mountains and huge craters and it takes the moon 27.3 days to orbit, the moon is bright in the sky at night because it reflects light from the sun. Also for the phases of the moon: the main reason for it that the sun lights up different parts of the moon so it looks different in the sky sometimes. The simple phases are new moon to first quarter moon to full moon to last quarter then to new moon again. Now back to Earth. Earth has a molten core and that makes a magnetic field without it, there will be radiation and many other bad things. Earth without the magnetic field will be very bad.
Earth has many satellites orbiting, it for plenty of things and there are about 4,550 orbiting around the Earth! Satellites are quite expensive when you think it costs millions and some of the ISS costs BILLIONS! And there are a lot of them! Earth is mostly made out of water, 70% (Some people call it the ''Blue planet.''for the water). People drink fresh water and there is only 3% of that 70% that is fresh water - but its still a lot! And that is all for important Earth facts. :D
Look a satellite!
Earth is not flat, but its not perfectly round either
The days are getting longer over time
There were not always 7 continents, it was Pangaea once but it split apart
About 800 million years ago an ice age happened
The coldest place is Antarctica, it could be -100 degrees F.
The deepest point you can go is the Mariana Trench (its pretty low)
The most populated city is Tokyo with a 2021 estimate of 37.5 million people
You can see the southern lights when it is night time in Antarctica (pretty!)
