Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
For this project I will be working by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
Microbit, Aligator clips, tin foil, and cardboard.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I plan to create a reaction game with the microbit.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be a game with 2 players to test who has the faster reaction time.
I worked on my list of ten good ideas. I also worked on my planning questions and made my new webpage for 8P4
I worked on getting some supplies around and discovered more about it.
I started making the cardboard piece to it.
I build the actual game board part with cardboard, tin foil, and alligator clips.
I did the code for the game today.
I worked on my website and video.
Using Cardboard, micro-bit, alligator clips, and tin foil I created a reaction time game. I created this game because when I was looking up ideas it looked very fun to make. Also I wanted to learn how it worked with the tin foil.
During this process, I learned how to use alligator clips and tin foil to make it transfer energy to the holes in the micro-bit. I had to use a lot of codes that I had never used before to make this project work. It was also kind of and combination of cardboard projects because I used cardboard for the board.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because when I did this project in 7th grade I knew just the basics of how this worked. I gained knowledge through looking online on how to use this. I learned how to use the 0,1,3v, and GND holes to make the alligator clips work.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the code right. I was able to do it by troubleshooting them a lot to make them work right. Sometimes it did not work and I had to change the code again.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the board. The reason why I would change it is because it was small. When people play it they might not have enought space to play it. This is especially a problem for people with big hands.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in system software engineering. They make about $175,000 to $200,000 a year.
