8P2-Keva Planks

Using Keva Planks, I created a city out of them. I made the city because I looked at a past students project and it looked like a lot of fun. Then I picked Gavin as my partner for this project.

During this process, I learned how to build structures out of Keva Planks. I learned how to make things so they were strong and won't fall. With the pyramid we had to put planks on the inside so it would be stable.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global Collaborator. It ties to this standard because our video and website is shared with the world.

A challenge I overcame on this project was when the train fell over. I was able to overcome it by starting over and making a different thing there instead. Another challenge was making the buildings have structure so they wouldn't fall over.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change the Mayan pyramid. It was not very neat and looked messy. I would make it more neat to make it look better.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.  My project connects to careers in Mechanical Engineering. They make about $96,000 a year.
