8p4 Chess Peices

Using tinker cad, a computer and a 3d printer I created one of the sets of chess pieces. I created chess pieces because I like to play chess with my friends. One more reason I decided on making chess pieces is because I thought it would be cool to have a custom set of pieces.

During this process, I learned how to properly scale and size a piece to fit on the chess board. The second thing I learned was that not everything will be perfect and not everything will work out the way you want like the piece size. The last thing that I learned that was the most important thing to note is that time is very important and that you have to work around other peoples time and think about there sickness. This happened to be the biggest set back of the project.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to an innovative designer because I used a lot of the technologies I had access to like the computer and 3d printer. The second thing that makes it connect was I had to find a problem to solve and then I had to find a solution to it.

A challenge I overcame on this project was time management. I was able to do it by waiting patiently for the print to be done so I could keep going. While the print was going I started the next piece. One more thing I overcame was the teacher being absent, I did this by making all my pieces before he got back so the second he did I was ready.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change the color of one of our sets to make it easier to distinguish. The reason why I would change it is because it would have looked a whole lot better and would of looked way better. The second thing that I would change is the size of the pieces. I would change this because it was hard to capture a piece without knocking a different piece on accident. 

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project was tied to engineering and design because I needed to design a project so it could be printed.

My project connects to careers in engineering and design because I had to make a lot of early designs to pick the one I wanted to continue working on. second, I had to continue to work on until we got the design I wanted. For example I could be an architect, graphic designer or even a game designer. In conclusion there are a lot of possibilities for me if I want to continue engineering and design.
