Using my computer and a micro bit, I created 4 things which include, my name, a sheep, 2+2=fish and a golf hole into a fire work because I wanted to tell people who I was. I wanted to make an animal from mine craft and the pig looked bad so I decided on the sheep. Next, I made the 2+2=fish because I like when people laugh and it makes me laugh so I thought it was a good idea. Last I made the golf hole because my friend and I like to play Wii sports and I like when the confetti shoots out of the hole so I thought of a fire work when it goes in.
During this process, I learned how to code a micro bit to make it display words and some designs. I also learned how to make an almost long array of images that look like a sequence. You see this with the golf course how the ball travels across two into a hole the it transitions into a fire work.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered learner because I had to be constantly engaged in the learning process. I set small goals to complete the end goal of making my micro Bit do as many things as possible.
A challenge I overcame on this project was during the first day when I could not figure out how to make my name go across when I hit a or B. I was able to do it by tinkering and reading the screen and i found the input button. When I put my code in it, it finally worked and I was able to help my shoulder partner.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the items I did. The reason why I would change it is because the things I did do just wasn't satisfying enough but I wanted to put as many things as I could on the micro bit that I didn't take enough time on one thing. If given one more chance I would make a step counter or a watch of some sort.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects because I had to program a code on my computer to work the LEDS.
My project connects to careers in coding because we learned how to code and make our micro bit to do what we want it to. Next, it also connects from the point that we had to create code lines for all of our things to make them function correctly. One more reason my project connects to coding is that it was made for students to practice coding.
