Using a drone, Robolink, iPad, Chromebook, I created a drone that races through a track. I did this because I thought it would be fun to code a drone and I did a race last year but with the sphero. Another reason I chose this is because I didn't have anything better to do and a friend asked if I would do it with him.
During this process, I learned that the faster you try to run your code the less accurate the code will be. I also learn how to use Robolink to code my project. The last and most important thing I learned is that you should pick your partner wisely and that problems will arise in partner projects.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative Designer because I designed a code to make the sphero ride on the track. The second reason it connects is because I had to innovate the code to make it run mostly perfectly on the track.
A challenge I overcame on this project was, I had to deal with a lot of issues with my partner. The second thing I overcame was the speed problem. I dealt with my partner by making the informed decision to stop working together because he was taking longer and I was done and ready, we also argued way too much so I won't work with him again. I figured out that the faster the code was the less accurate, so I tuned down the speed and upped the time so it would go better.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the complexity of the tracks and switch robots. The reason why I would change it is because the tracks were quite simple but it would have taken to long and would have to have been over multiple class periods. The reason I would switch robots is because it wouldn't be as fun to use the same bot again as it would be to try a new bot.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects because I had to program a code so my robot could race.
My project connects to careers in coding because we coded and made it do what I wanted it to do what we want it to. Next, it also connects from the point that we had to create code lines for all of our things to make them function correctly. One more reason my project connects to coding is that this hole project was coding so It directly connects to jobs with coding.
