we made a different track for race two and won
Using a sphero bolt, colored pencils and an I pad, I created a race track and raced because it sounded like fun. The second reason I made the race track is because It was simple enough to were I believed I could do it in an hour so I wouldn't mess up the track and could finish the race. The last reason I made it is because it was the first thing me and my partner were convinced of doing.
During this process, I learned how to use angles and timing to get my robot to go the distance that we needed for the race. The second thing I learned was that you have to Finnish the track in a day or it will completely mess up the code the next day. The last thing I learned from this is that you can't just ram all the pencils to win it will get you disqualified.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative Designer because I designed a code to make the sphero ride on the track. The second reason it connects is because I had to innovate the code to make it run mostly perfectly on the track.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the robot to go the right direction even after the direction completely changed randomly. I was able to do it by taking a deep breath and trying again and again. The second way I was able to overcome this was by taking turns coding and babysitting the robot so it doesn't wreak havoc on the track
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the complexity of the tracks and switch robots. The reason why I would change it is because the tracks were quite simple but it would have taken to long and would have to have been over multiple class periods. The reason I would switch robots is because both of the other robots were slower but easier to code so it would have been more fair.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects because I had to program a code so my robot could race.
My project connects to careers in coding because we coded and made it do what I wanted it to do what we want it to. Next, it also connects from the point that we had to create code lines for all of our things to make them function correctly. One more reason my project connects to coding is that this hole project was coding so It directly connects to jobs with coding.
