This is a picture of the block form of our practice level. It shows keys, characters, enemies, water, ground. and coins. We use these blocks to scan and play the real game.
This Is what the exact same picture as above, but it is in the app, and the blocks have a identity to the level. You start by getting a key, unlocking the door, climbing up a sand pit, then fighting enemies to get another key.
This video is a demo of the practice level Spencer and I first did.
This is a picture of the run thru, it shows the key door you need to unlock, and a water elevator to get to the enemy.
On day 3, Spencer and I started to work on another Death Star level.
The reason we started another game was because we started to understand the physics of the game, so we choose the map to take place on the death star.
I wanted to do a story level based game with the backgrounds and themes the game made available.
This picture shows the last level of the story mode level I was trying to do. It shows Darth Vader defeating enemies on the death star ship launching area.
Using Bloxels, I created a story mode Star Wars based video game level. I did this because it was different from a lot of other peoples projects. In the game you have to get a key to unlock a door and pass thru to the other parts.
During this process, I learned how to use the bloxles app. I also learned how to use the blocks and understand what they do. There is about 8 different blocks for you to use in the box, and each one does a different thing in the app.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator, or Innovative Designer. My project ties to these because we are using Bloxles blocks to show/ design our video game level.
A challenge I overcame on this project was finding the right block type for the material. I was able to do it by experimenting with the other blocks until I found the right material I wanted for the level. For example, I wanted to have quicksand for the level, since I couldn't find the quicksand I tried the water block and hoped for the quicksand to be under water. Since quicksand was under water blocks I solved the problem of not having quicksand.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the commitment to one level. The reason why I would change it is because originally my partner and I were going to do a practice level, get comfortable with the app, and start the real level but due to only having 5 days to work on the project we could only successfully finish 1 level.
