7P9- Makey Makey

What materials will you need for your project?

I will need the Makey Makey website and the circuit piece that comes with it. I will also need my computer and cardboard to complete my project

What is your plan to create in this project?

I will look for videos on how to create a Piano with the Makey Makey

What unique qualities will your project have?

I will be 100% my imagination 

• Using a Computer, the Makey Makey circuit, playdoh, and cardboard, I created a Piano that plays music when you press on the playdoh. Which was really hard because I could not get the playdoh to make contact with the circuit when I pressed the button because the playdoh was not making contact (I think) with wire so I had to wiggle the wire so that the green light on the Makey Makey circuit indicated that it had made contact with the paper.

• During this process, I learned how to use Makey Makey and what happens when the green wire connects with the red wire. When you touched the red wire it would indicate that the green wire should be pressed in order to get what you are looking for.

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because you are designing something new that works with the same stuff that we have already. For example, in Virtual Reality, you can test something before you even get it out there into the world. But when you create something like a piano like I am doing with playdoh and some wires that are some new technology that helps with stuff that we might do every day.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was learning how to make something work by connecting this wire to this other wire to make this light up. For example, the piano was hard to do because when this button was pressed it play another weird sound that I did not press. I was able to do it by asking my friends how to make this work and getting the wires to the right spot so that they play the right sound at the right time.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change how I did the connection and the sound that came out of the computer. When I pressed the button it would change how the sound played, I messed up with the connections. The second thing I would change is the project itself, I would change it to Wack a Mole to be more entertaining when played. The reason why I would change it is that I do not think that the piano was that entertaining when played and I think that Wack a Mole would way more entertaining for those who are playing the game.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offer Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.  My project connects to careers in Makey Makey designing.
