Day 1: Today we programmed the MINI Robot to make shapes like squares, rectangles, and triangles.Which we finished that day.
Day 2: We grabbed the robot off the shelf not knowing what will come in the process. It was the I Robot Marker robot that we had picked next for the project. We took it and were so confused about how to use it. For example, how to put the marker onto the paper to draw. After a while, we figured out how to make it draw and make a word.
Day 3: Today, we decided to work on a different robot. We chose the BOLT. We were excited about this one because we liked the idea of it making party lights. We had trouble with the app used to make it work. We couldn't find the right part of the app, at first. After a while, we finally got it figured out and were able to get the BOLT to work.
Day 4: Once we programmed it to light up in a certain pattern, we took pictures and videos of it working, then we loaded them onto my website.
Day5: We went back to work on the I robot to make a word. We tried to make it draw the word ILL.
Day 6: Was gone that day.
Day 7: Was gone that day
Day 8: Worked on the final part of the coding process for the robot. Took pictures and videos of the robot to put on my website.
Day 9: Finished my website and put pictures onto it and am ready to publish it.
Using the iPad to code the MINI, BOLT, I ROBOT, and DASH. I created party lights with the BOLT, shapes with the MINI, and words with the I Robot.
During this process, I learned how to code with robots to make all sorts of things.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project is tied to Innovative Designer because you are Innovating something new with robots doing something new. With the Marker robot, you can have the robot make a perfect circle instead of someone having to try to make a perfect circle and messing up some of the time and wasting the paper.
A challenge I overcame on this project was learning how to make these robots do what I want them to do. I was able to do it by looking on the web for how to code with these robots while talking to my classmates to see if they knew how to do it. When I figured it out I was able to finish the coding process.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the word I chose for the I Robot. I would change the word to be more difficult. The word I chose was "ILL". I thought it would be good to use but after I got done, I realized it could have been much better to use a more complicated word. I don't think I stretched my imagination very much on this word so next time, I would try something harder.
