Biography: Karl was born on November 1, 1838 in Kustrow, Mecklenburg, Schwer-In, Germany. Karl was married to Mina Roggendorf. In 1872, they came to Eden Valley and located business in Hamburg as a cigar maker. They had a daughter who died at 7 years old. Karl was a church member and secratary of the society for 6 years. The cause leading to his death was discovered in September 1888 and was incited by a bed tooth which chaffed the tongue. He had one sister, Mrs. Eliza Putzbach (lived in Hamburg, Germany); his father's name was also Carl. He passed away on November 6, 1889 from cancer. Carl was an upright citizen who was respected by all. He was an active member of St. Jacob's and the secretary of the society for 6 years.
