Biography: Daniel was born in 1817 in Wurtemberg, Germany. He was a carpenter and joiner by trade, who married Mary (Applonea) and lived in Hamburg with their children. Daniel was building a barn near his house. On July 29, 1866 he was found laying prostrate on his back a few hours (and 3 quarter of a mile from home) after departing his house for the barn, buggy overturned, horse still in harness. His head was found fractured in different places. A jury rendered a verdict that he was murdered by persons unknown.
