This week you need to complete your story (below instructions) and translate to te reo.
The first Te Kura assignment to hand in is a short piece of writing. You have been asked to write a story for Year 7 & 8 students about the creation. Use the information you have learnt so far to write your story. If you know other imformation (eg: Kai Tahu stories) these are fine to use. You may also like to read the information about Rangi and Papa to help you. Use a simple sentence structure, so we can translate into te reo Māori using what we already know. Work with whaea Kylie to translate this. Your story should be: in Te Reo Māori, about 150 words when completed.

He wiki tuatoru
Learn: How to write a retell of a story in te reo Māori.
SC: Write a simple verion of te timatanga o te ao Māori.
Vocabulary list for your first module (Ngā Atua). Please spend time learning these words. You will need to spend at least 20 Minutes a day on learning these new words. Try and put them into sentences - using sentence structure that you learnt last year.
You need to find out your iwi's (or local iwi - Kai Tahu) version of the beginning of the world - Te timitanga o te ao Māori. Once you have become familiar- with the version, you need to simplify it as if you were telling it to younger children. Write it in English first and the we will work on translating.
Link to last years site: You will need to look at all of the different pages to refresh all of last years learning.
Use the above link to last years site and your pukapuka te reo Māori from last year to refresh your brain on the learning from last year. It is really important that you do this properly so we can build on that foundation rather than start all over again.
Create a presentation for me showing me all the words and sentences that you have learnt - This will give me a great idea of where each of you need to start this year. If you were not in this class last year, let me know all the words, sayings and sentences that you know (and can remember), it will be worth looking through last year's site too.
DUE: Friday February 18th
He wiki tuatahi me tuarua (weeks 1 and 2)
LI: to introduce ourselves in te reo Māori
SC: create a personalised mihi for introducing ourselves
Learning: Greetings, how to speak about whānau members, how to introduce ourselves.

Create: We are going to put together our individual mihi and then create a visual version of it - a visual mihi.
Share: The visual will be on our wall in the whare and we will share it orally during mihi time.
