Explain exactly what the pūrākau and the waiata is telling a story of - what is the information intended to be passed down through generations? You need two different things here - Geological map from the pūrākau and pounamu from your waiata.
What is the specific main subject that this pūrākau and waiata are about?
Why is this information so important for Māori to pass down through the generations?
What would happen if this information wasn't passed on?
Once you have all the answers, you can choose a creative way to share your information with the class: Visual presentation, video, haka, waiata, tauparapara, presentation, voice recording, written work - your choice!

Te wiki tuatahi me tuarua
Week one and two
Kia ora. This week we will get to know each other and we will create our mihi/pepeha, learn about why they are important and create a visual to help us remember our mihi. We will also learn to ask and answer questions about ourselves in te reo Māori. Those that have a mihi that they have crafted with Whaea Kylie will add more detail to enhance their mihimihi.
Tuatahi: Click on this link and sign up for kupu o te rā. this means a new kupu Māori will come to your inbox each day. This is what you will come into class and begin doing every class. Before anything else. you will write the word in your pukapuka Māori in Māori and English and then you will add in the sentence that it give you, along with listening to the pronunciation of the word. It will then be your challenge to use that word as much as possible for the rest of the day.
Goal: increase our vocabulary one word at a time!
Tuarua:
We will use the information in the slideshow (below), along with talking with whaea, to each create our own individual mihi. We will then show our mihi in a visual way. We will use this information to learn to ask and aanswer questions about family in te reo Māori.
COMPLETED by the end of week two.
Goal: Introduce ourselves in te reo Māori, ask and answer questions about whānau in te reo Māori
TE WIKI TUATORU
