CHOOSING CLASSES

Cottonwood High School is a Comprehensive Guidance School. Students have the opportunity to work individually with their counselor each year. Students also participate in a variety of career programs including workshops, guest speakers, career fairs, military career day, and college programs. All of these activities are designed to help students create an informed College and Career Readiness Plan (CCRP). Careful consideration of the CCRP is recommended as students complete their course registration information.

Students must register for all eight periods for both semesters. Students are registering for the full year. On the basis of student requests, teachers will be assigned for the coming year. Class sizes are limited; if a student wants to ensure their placement in a class, they should make thoughtful and accurate choices when initially selecting courses. Therefore, changes in schedule are strongly discouraged. Students are expected to become familiar with the various subject offerings, so that changes in your schedule will not be necessary. Students should secure this help from teachers, counselors, parents, and from the information provided in this publication.

Selections such as Home release, Work Release/Documented Release, an Teacher Aide are not available for mass course selection; if a student wishes to choose one of those option, they need to contact their counselor the first week of school to make a change to their schedule.
