Contest Description:
Participants are expected to demonstrate growth and skill development in the following areas:
Basic Camera Operation – Understanding core camera functions, settings, and manual controls.
Technical Terminology – Using correct photographic vocabulary when discussing techniques and creative choices.
Composition and Lighting – Applying principles such as framing, balance, depth, and effective lighting to create compelling images.
Adobe Photoshop Skills – Using digital editing tools to enhance, retouch, and prepare images professionally.
Interview Preparation – Communicating clearly about artistic decisions, process, and the story behind submitted photographs.
File Formatting – Submitting images in proper file types, sizes, and resolutions according to contest guidelines.
These criteria will guide both the creation and evaluation of contest submissions.
Project Scope:
Students will demonstrate technical and creative abilities in image-making. Students will also demonstrate a strong understanding of the fundamentals of camera operation, including core functions, settings, and proper handling techniques. Emphasis is placed on understanding essential photographic terminology and applying key artistic concepts such as composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
Participants will provide professional photographs edited through Adobe Photoshop and prepare images for presentation. In addition, students will interview to confidently discuss their work, creative decisions, and technical processes. Proper file formatting and digital workflow management are also required to ensure professional-quality submissions.
This scope prepares students to create polished, expressive photographs suitable for contests, exhibitions, and portfolio development.
