Contest Description: 

To check how well competitors understand carpentry and how skilled they are at doing the work.


Scope: 

Blueprint Reading and Interpretation, Design and Layout of Building Materials, Construction/Assembly of Project, Safe Operations of Hand Tools and Power Tools 


Tools/ Supplies Required to be brought by students:

• Toolbelt/Apron 

• 3 - #8 predrill/countersink bits 

• Measuring tape (imperial and metric) 

• Calculator (non-programmable) 

• Pencils and erasers 

• Carpenter’s hammer 

• Framing square • 7” speed square 

• Combination square • Level (min. 2’) 

• Assorted twist drill bits (up to 3/4”) • Assorted speed bore/paddle bits 

• (up to 1 ¾”) 

• 3/8” x 6” Auger bit 

• 18” fine tooth hand saw 

• 5 - #2 (red) Robertson bits 

• Assorted wood chisels (up to 1”) 

• Chalk line • 10” Adjustable wrench (crescent) 

• Sandpaper (120 grit) 

• Push broom and dustpan 

• All general health and safety guidelines and protective equipment as noted in the Safety section. 

• Refillable water bottle 

• Additional snacks (recommended peanut-free) 

• Competitors must be dressed in a clean and appropriate manner with no logos other than that of their school/school board.
