This course is suitable for learners who have an interest in and enthusiasm for developing their movement and performance skills in physical activities, and who enjoy learning in practical contexts.
The main aims of this Course are to enable the learner to:
To develop the ability to safely perform a range of movement and performance skills while in straightforward contexts.
To develop and demonstrate knowledge of mental, social, emotional and physical factors that impacting on performance.
Use methods to gather information on their performance to identify strengths and areas for development.
To develop approaches to enhance personal performance while monitoring, recording and reflecting on performance development.

Performance Skills
This course will be assessed through performance 50% and portfolio 50%.
Pupils will select two activities to be assessed on in a challenging competition context for the Performance element. Each activity will be assessed out of 30 marks.
For the portfolio element pupils must plan for a performance, prepare through the use of a training programme, gather evidence on their performance development and evaluate their performance. Evidence from this is collated and sent to the SQA as a PE portfolio. The portfolio is out of 60 marks.
