The NC in Creative Industries at SCQF level 6 is designed to provide opportunities for learners to develop their knowledge and skills in the challenging, rewarding and exciting creative economy.
The qualification allows learners to develop skills of: self-enquiry, self-discipline, self reflection, collaborative working, professionalism, problem solving, resource management, creative thinking and analysis, entrepreneurship, realising and managing Intellectual Property.
At the discretion of the centre
6 of the 12 SQA credit points required for this qualification come from choice units so pupils will need to take other creative subjects such as music, art, or photography in order to achieve the full qualification.
The mandatory course units focus on developing the essential vocational skills required for a successful career in the creative industries. Pupils contribute collaboratively on a ‘real life’ project bringing their creative skills together in response to a creative brief. They develop skills for engaging confidently with clients and bringing their creative product to market.
Alongside this, pupils work on choice units, developing their preferred creative skills.
Three 2-credit mandatory units, assessed through practical work and a folio of evidence.
A further 6 SQA credits through choice units, also assessed by practical work and a folio of evidence.
This course is designed to allow progression to related HNC/HND Group Awards including the following:

Communications, Media and Journalism Computing,
Fashion and Textiles
Music, Sound Production and Music Business
Performing Arts
Pupils can choose to develop creative skills appropriate to a wide range of sectors in the Creative Industries.
The employability skills developed will support young people whatever career they choose.
