The main purpose of this course is for pupils to develop and demonstrate a broad and comprehensive range of complex skills in challenging performance contexts. Pupils will analyse performance looking specifically at the impact of mental, emotional, social and physical factors, understand what is required to develop these factors and then apply this knowledge to their own performance.

Component 1: Performance
Candidates will perform in two different physical activities, each worth 30 marks. Each activity must provide them with the opportunity to display a significantly different range of movement and performance skills. This will enable candidates to demonstrate the breadth and application of the skills they have learned in the course within different contexts. Pupils will have a choice, with the teacher’s agreement, on which activities they will be
assessed on.

Total – 60 marks worth 50% of the total course
Component 2: Question Paper
The question paper consists of three sections;
Section 1 – questions based on all 4 factors that impact on performance - 32 marks
Section 2 – questions where pupils will apply knowledge and understanding gained from creating and implementing a Personal Development Plan - 6-10 marks
Section 3 - a scenario based question assessing learners ability to apply knowledge and understanding in varying contexts. – 8-12 marks
Time - 2hrs 30mins
Total – 50 marks worth 50% of the total course
