Kindergarten students showed their risk-taker profile during their very first swimming lesson in Global Jaya. Some of our students felt a bit scared to swim in our small pool, but brave enough to try. After taking some time to calm themselves, all of them were very excited to join and follow all the instructions given by the PE teachers, from the beginning warm up to the end of the lesson. The children learned how to properly get into the pool from a sitting position, walk in the water and keep their balance, blow bubbles and dive. They had fun with Pak Asep, Pak Alwan, Pak Dedi and Ibu Harna. We can’t wait to have another swimming lesson.

Our Kindergarten students are learning about themselves and their relation to others and the environment, under the Transdisciplinary Theme: Who We Are. To add to the learning with real-life experiences, we invited baby Jasper and his parents, Ibu Ashley and Pak Steve, to visit us! For this experience the students observed Jasper to learn about timeline of life and the potential that people have at different stages of life. It was so engaging because, not only did we observe what a baby can or can’t do, but the children also naturally compared Jasper’s abilities to their own abilities as 4 and 5-year-old people. This session also worked to build students’ empathy as they tried to play “peeka-boo” with - or sing a soothing lullaby to - Jasper when he was crying. Many thanks to Ibu Ashley, Pak Steve and baby Jasper for coming
