Our Year 9 students have been working hard to change the world and serve our communities. This enthusiastic bunch of students is raising their voices in both the English Language and Literature classroom and in the development of their Service as Action projects.
Our English Language and Literature classes focused on local issues in our Campaigns for Change unit during Term 1. Each student tackled an issue that they noticed in the world around them and used persuasive techniques learned in class to inspire and insight change. These issues ranged from cyberbullying to school involvement, community events and mental health. Take a look at some of the work they created!
Sofia saw a need for a shared outdoor space to encourage people to get outdoors and create a sense of community, so she created “The Bintaro Stay”.
Kenisha tackled cyberbullying through an emotional campaign video, pamphlet, and poster.
Zahir saw a need for mental health support and spiritual guidance for our students, so he created a campaign with posters, a pamphlet, and an event to address the issue.
The Year 9s are also making waves as they develop their Service as Action projects.
Keep an eye out for their upcoming fundraising endeavours featured during our Week Without Walls and the December Holiday Bazaar on December 16th! Buy some home baked goods and traditional Indonesian snacks to fundraise for school supplies for children in need.
