Re: Campus-based Week Without Walls activities 28 November - 2 December
We had hoped to be in a position to re-establish our annual week without walls programme for November 2022. However, due to the instability of covid and the impact of potential covid regulations, we have decided that it is in the best interest of our MYP students to hold on-campus activities this academic year.
During the week beginning Monday 28th November, all MYP students will complete student-initiated service as action activities. Our team has been working hard to support our students to create meaningful service as action projects. These projects will help our students continue to develop as independent learners who understand that they have a responsibility to make a difference in our world. As such, students will not be attending lessons as normal during this week, as they will be concentrating on fulfilling their service as action projects.
An additional objective of this year's campus-based WWW programme, is that students will further develop by engaging in challenging and practical community building activities. To this end, we have invited the team from Outward Bound to come to our campus and to spend a day working with each of our year groups.
During the day, the students will work with the Outward Bound specialists at GJS. They will engage in challenging group activities that are designed to further develop the bonds between every student in each year level.
Who?: This opportunity is open to all students from year 7 - year 10. It is not a requirement, however students who do not participate will miss out on the bonding experiences that the rest of the year group will participate in during that day.
Where?: The Outward Bound activities will take place on the GJS campus.
When?: Monday 28th November until Friday 2nd December. Each year group will be allocated one day within this week to participate in the Outward Bound experience. The specific day allocated for each year group will be confirmed at the beginning of November, after we know how many students have signed up.
Why?: After having spent so long learning from home, we need to actively rebuild the feeling of community at GJS. The activities will also support our students to regain and enhance such skills as collaboration, problem-solving and communication.
The Outward Bound experience costs IDR750.000 per student. When registering your child, please submit proof of payment to the account detailed below.

Students who do not participate in the Outward Bound experience will be required to come to school and continue to work on their service as action project.
