Dear Primary Parents,
We have successfully completed Term 1 and are looking forward to even more active, engaging, and full hands-on learning in Term 2. October being a very busy month offered us a sense of normalcy that we were all seeking. We held the much anticipated Athletics Carnival where students participated in active living and shared a spirit of team sports and competition. This was followed by the MSC where our students had the privilege to share their learning experience with their parents and also engage in discussion of their future goals with teachers. Our parents had the opportunity to provide feedback to their children in the form of handwritten letters. The joy of receiving handwritten notes and the smile on students' lips when they read the note of appreciation from their parents was rewarding. Our term break ended 48 days of student instruction. We hope you had a restful term break and took some time to spend quality time with your family and loved ones.
Our Book Week will be held from October 31 - November 4th. The week starts off with a Book Character/Halloween Parade on October 31st followed by a range of activities. You may click here for the Book Week plans and the Poster and Halloween posters. Parents are welcome to watch the parade on October 31st and also visit the book fair held during the week.
We are delighted to share that Global Jaya School is currently working towards obtaining green school recognition through Adiwiyata, a government program aimed at improving awareness and action around sustainability in Indonesia. This initiative is extremely important to us and is led by the Green School committee which comprises a team of dedicated and passionate students and teachers. The aim of the committee is to raise awareness of how we can sustainably use the resources at our disposal and create environmental awareness. If you are passionate about this program and can offer support and advice, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to working with our students in helping them develop a greater awareness of the world around them.
November is often associated with kindness. In fact, November 13 is observed as World Kindness Day. And because performing random acts of kindness promotes positive feelings of love, compassion, empathy and gratitude, we invite all our parents, teachers and students to participate in the Kindness Challenge.
What: Kindness Challenge
Who: All students, teachers and parents
When: Every day in November
Why: We are committed to making kindness a norm.
How: The calendar below features a fun and easy way to do something kind for someone else for each day of the month. Simply follow the prompt of the day and make someone smile.
Action: We would love to hear from you. If you have a Kindness story that would inspire others, please share them with us via your teachers, office admin, or leadership, or simply drop your stories in any format (letters, pictures with captions, videos) in this FOLDER. Kindness cannot be measured, No act of kindness is too small or big. Kindness is addictive The more you share the faster it spreads. Link to Random Acts of Kindness Poster.
A gentle reminder that our Global Jaya Open House will be held on November 24th for Secondary and November 25th for Primary. We look forward to welcoming new and potential families and sharing all the wonderful and special things that make up our school. We are also using this as an opportunity to build strong communication and leadership skills within our Student Council body. Our young learners will be involved in speaking with potential families about their experience and sharing what makes this place special.
Lastly, We would like to wish all our families a very Happy Diwali for all those who celebrate the festival of lights.
