Dear Global Jaya Community,
One of my favorite expressions this time of year is: March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. That couldn’t be more true than this March. Here is a brief wrap up:
Year 10:
On March 17th, 15 Year 10 students received merchandise from Pak Maman Abdurrahman who is the Minister of Small Business, UMKM. Our year 10 students were lucky enough to have the opportunity to listen to a talk given by Pak Maman Abdurrahman on February 6th in Pendidikan Pancasila and Indonesian Studies. Please see the photos below of students receiving their merchandise.
March started with the year 10 students taking their English Language Acquisition eAssessment mock exams for English Language and Literature, English Language Acquisition, and Mathematics. The final IB eAssessment will be May 5th and May 8th. Remember that students will come in for those exams only and then they go home. This is to ensure that they have maximum focus and rest for these important assessments.
The remainder of the exams will be May 19-22, 2025. Please see the schedule below. Please click here for the calendar of due dates. If you were unable to attend the parent session on 17th, please click here for the slides.
Year 9:
Students will begin their mini personal project in the next few weeks. This will help them be more prepared for the personal project next year. Students will work in groups of 4 to create a learning goal, product goal, and apply ATL skills. More details will be shared.
University sessions have started with our amazing university counselling team. Year 9 students learned how to begin tracking their ASAs, sports, service, and other activities in preparation for university applications. Years 8 and 9:
Elective course offering selections are due on April 11th. Please click here for the slides that were shared at the parent session. The links to the forms are on slide 42 or see below for the QR code form links to make selections.
All MYP Students:
Service as Action is one of the integral parts of being a MYP student. Not only does it help our students develop their learner profile attributes and leadership skills, but it also helps them to become good stewards of their community. Please click here for the GJS Service as Action site with SA requirements. This year we had many groups apply for the IB Global Youth Action Fund. We wish them all the best for their applications!
So many exciting opportunities are available to enrich GJS students for post secondary life. Please click here for the GJS University Site and click here for the GJS Enrichment Opportunities site.
