The Year 1 students recently participated in an exciting and educational event known as the Amazing Race! This collaborative activity allowed students to engage with their school environment in a fun and interactive way, while also developing teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The students were divided into teams and were challenged to solve a series of riddles, each leading them to different areas of the school. From the library to the gymnasium, each location held unique clues that highlighted the importance of various spaces within our school community. As they raced against the clock, students worked together to decipher the riddles and use the school map, encouraging communication and collaboration among team members.
Through their participation in the Amazing Race, students not only experienced teamwork and collaboration but also acquired essential map-reading skills. As they navigated the riddles leading to different landmarks within the school, they learned to interpret various map elements, including symbols, directions, and pathways.
We were thrilled to see our students thrive in such a dynamic learning environment and look forward to more exciting activities in the future!
The Year 1 students embarked on an imaginative journey as the GJS theatre was transformed into the GJS International Airport!
The "Pack Your Bag" activity brought a delightful twist to our learning environment, allowing students to engage in a fun and educational experience that sparked their creativity and critical thinking.
When students arrived, they entered the waiting room and patiently waited for their flights. Once their flight was called, students moved to the check-in area for a security check, where the real fun began.
At the security check, each student explained what they packed in their bags and why they selected specific items, whether it was a sun hat for a tropical beach, a warm jacket for a snowy mountain adventure, binoculars for sightseeing, or a Pop Mie to snack on because it is a long flight.
Throughout the presentations, students demonstrated their understanding of their country-based research and how different climates and activities influence packing decisions.
After the security guards were happy with their answers, students placed their bags in the baggage check. With help from the ground crew, they showed their boarding passes and found their seats on the "airplane," ready for takeoff.
As the students got ready for takeoff, it was clear that this creative journey would be a memorable experience for them.
Overall, the "Pack Your Bag" activity not only enriched our curriculum but also allowed students to express themselves, learn from one another, and explore the world around them—all from the comfort of their school.
