On Saturday, February 7, our school proudly hosted the Primary Soccer Tournament. Six schools participated in the event, including both local and international schools from the surrounding area. The tournament involved students from Year 1 to Year 6 and brought together young athletes for a day filled with energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of healthy competition in a supportive, positive environment. Throughout the matches, students demonstrated enthusiasm, determination, and a strong sense of fair play.
During the tournament, students actively developed a range of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills. Communication skills were clearly visible as players reminded each other of positions, shared strategies, and encouraged teammates both on and off the field. Social skills were strengthened through cooperation, turn-taking, and respectful interactions with peers, referees, coaches, and opposing teams. In addition, students showed strong self-management skills by following the rules, managing their emotions, showing respect to others, and persevering through challenging moments during matches.
Success at the primary level is about more than just winning or losing. This tournament emphasized important values such as respect, cooperation, resilience, and inclusiveness. All players were given equal opportunities to participate, regardless of their skill level, reinforcing the importance of inclusion and teamwork in sports.
We would like to sincerely thank all participating students and schools for their contributions to this event. A special appreciation also goes to the coaches for their guidance, encouragement, and continuous support. Their role is essential in helping students develop not only physical skills, but also character, confidence, and teamwork—qualities that extend far beyond the soccer field.

Global Jaya School Makes History with First-Ever Golf Tournament Participation
Last Saturday, February 21st, Global Jaya School proudly marked a new milestone by participating for the very first time in a competitive golf tournament. The event took place in Bogor at the scenic Gunung Geulis West Course and was hosted by Jakarta Intercultural School.
The tournament brought together 52 students from four schools: Global Jaya School, the host school JIS, British School Jakarta, and SPH-KV. For Global Jaya, this event represented not only a competition but also an important step forward in expanding our athletics program.
Our school was represented by Mischa (Year 11), Kirana (Year 10), Abraraza (Year 8), and Arhata (Year 7), who all delivered outstanding performances. Mischa achieved a remarkable 1st place in the girls' category and also won the Closest to the Pin award on Hole 15. Kirana secured an impressive 3rd place in the girls' division. In the boys' category, Abraraza finished 5th, while Arhata placed 11th overall.
Considering this was Global Jaya School's first participation in a golf tournament of this nature, these results are truly exceptional and reflect the students' commitment, skill, and composition. We hope this experience encourages more students to take up golf in the future, allowing the sport to grow into another strong component of our athletics program.
A big congratulations to all the students who participated. You are now part of Global Jaya School history. Special thanks as well to Pak Ian for supervising the event, and to the parents for their support from start to finish.
Go Hawks!
