Throughout February, students filled the library with engaging activities that encouraged Primary students to explore books and celebrate their love of reading.
Will It Be Love at First Page? invited students to select a wrapped mystery book, enjoy the surprise of a new story, and write a short review. Their thoughtful responses showed curiosity and enthusiasm, and several students were excited to take part in the hope of winning a prize.
As part of Library Lovers’ Month, students shared why the library is special to them by writing messages on paper hearts. The growing display became a wonderful reminder of how much the library means to our learning community.
Thank you to our students for their outstanding participation. Their excitement and engagement continue to strengthen a culture of reading and a love for books.
This month, we are pleased to introduce several new and exciting titles to our collection! You can view the full list of new arrivals on our Library Online Catalogue.

In April 2026, the Global Jaya School Library organised several activities as part of Library Lovers’ Month and Valentine’s Day celebrations. These activities were designed to encourage students to express their love for books while also creating opportunities for creativity and connection within the school community. With the support of the Friends of the Library (FLY) student team, the library became a welcoming space where students could engage with reading in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
One of the activities was the “Best Fictional Ship” voting, held during Advisory on April 13, 2026. Inspired by the Valentine’s Day theme, students voted for their favorite fictional character pairings from books and films. The activity created excitement among students,
as many were eager to support the characters they loved and discuss their favorite stories with friends. It was a fun way to connect Valentine’s Day with reading and storytelling.
Another highlight was the “Fold Your Love” bookmark activity with Year 5 students on Thursday, April 19, 2026. During this session, students created heart-shaped origami bookmarks using colorful paper and decorations. This Valentine's-themed activity allowed students to express appreciation for books while making something personal that they could use in their own reading. Students enjoyed the hands-on experience and were proud of their creations.
These activities also reflected the important role of student leadership in the library. Members of Friends of the Library were involved in preparing materials, organising the sessions, and supporting younger students throughout the activities. Their involvement helped create a positive and welcoming environment in the library.
Through Library Lovers’ Month and Valentine’s Day celebrations, the library continues to promote reading as something meaningful and enjoyable. These activities remind students that the library is not only a place for learning, but also a space for creativity, connection, and sharing their love of books.
We would like to thank all students and volunteers who contributed to these activities. Their participation helped make the library a lively and engaging place for the entire school community.

In Term 3 of the 2025-2026 academic year, members of the Friends of the Library (FLY) launched the Student Library Assistant program as part of their CAS project. Led by Chiara and Dara, this initiative aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in supporting daily library operations while developing responsibility, leadership, and service skills.
The program invited students from Year 7 to Year 11 to volunteer as library assistants after school. Through this experience, student volunteers contributed to maintaining the library environment by shelving books, assisting with book covering, and helping organise displays. These tasks played an important role in keeping the library organised and accessible for the school community.
In addition to supporting library operations, volunteers also had the opportunity to take part in meaningful interactions with younger students. This allowed volunteers to share their love of reading while building connections across different grade levels.
The Student Library Assistant program was open to students who were punctual, responsible, and willing to contribute their time after school.
Each volunteer participated in scheduled shifts, helping the library staff with daily tasks and gaining valuable experience in teamwork and service. The program also provided an opportunity for students to complete their Service as Action (SA) or CAS requirements while making a meaningful contribution to the school community.
As project leaders, Chiara and Dara were responsible for organising the program, recruiting volunteers, managing schedules, and guiding participants during their shifts. Their leadership helped ensure that volunteers understood their roles and felt confident in supporting library activities.
The Student Library Assistant CAS project reflects the important role students play in supporting and strengthening the library. Through their involvement, volunteers not only helped maintain the library space but also developed valuable skills such as responsibility, collaboration, and initiative.
We would like to thank Chiara, Dara, and all student volunteers for their dedication and contribution. Their efforts have helped create a positive and supportive library environment for the entire school community.
